Plus-Size Gay Conference Convergence Sets Eyes on NYC for 2018

Wednesday Oct 18, 2017

Big men are about to take on the Big Apple. Convergence, the long-running conference for plus-size gay men and their admirers is hitting New York City next year. The six-day event starting Wednesday, August 29 and ending Monday, September 3, 2018 promises to attract several hundred gay "chubs" and "chasers" from around the United States and several other countries.

Convergence.NYC will be hosted at the historic Hotel Pennsylvania and will feature parties and events at several NYC bars and restaurants. Entertainment will include NYC top talent like Music Bear Tony Banks and "Queen of Karaoke" drag queen Jacqueline DuPree; and also entertainment from around the country like DJ Frantik of Sacramento, CA and Jada SparXXX of Harrisburg, PA. Additionally, tours will be offered to famous landmarks and LGBT historic sites in NYC. Information packed seminars will be offered on lifestyle and health living.

Featured activities include a one-of-a-kind big gay men's flash mob at Times Square, a visit to Stonewall National Park, and a banquet at the Empire State Building. Convergence.NYC participants will be welcomed at NYC City Hall by Council Member and NYC LGBT activist Daniel Dromm.

Billed as the largest and longest running annual conference for big gay men and their admirers, Convergence is hosted in a different city each year. The event provides a safe judgment-free space for plus-size gay men; a group that is often beset with discrimination both from society at large and from within the LGBT community. Convergence provides an opportunity to socialize, learn, and celebrate their lifestyle.

Convergence was last held in New York City in 1992.
