"It means you're like, 'Hey everybody, I'm this thing, and you guys didn't even know that, but now you know," said Lil Nas X as he hilariously tried to explain "coming out" to the young hosts of the YouTube series "Arts & Raps."

As reported by People, Nas, born Montero Hill, then went on to give the show's hosts Zaria and Dilan advice on how to be themselves.

"It means just doing yourself at all costs, no matter who's watching," he told them. "It gets really hard, because everybody in the world, we always think about what everybody else is thinking about us," he added. "Sometimes, we forget to think about what we think about ourselves, you know?"

Hot off the success and social media firestorm caused by his music video "Montero (Call Me by Your Name)," Nas X is quickly becoming the poster boy for unapologetically being "you."

Previously writing to his 14-year-old self on Instagram before releasing the video, he shared: "You see this is very scary for me, people will be angry, they will say I'm pushing an agenda," he said. "But the truth is, I am. The agenda to make people stay the f— out of other people's lives and stop dictating who they should be. Sending you love from the future. -lnx"

Love it or hate it, there is no denying that Nas X's message will resonate with anyone — including kids — who is struggling to be themselves.
