Turns Out Dannii Minogue Did NOT Come Out 'As Queer'

Emell Adolphus READ TIME: 2 MIN.

Be still our queer hearts because Dannii Minogue has took to social media to set the record straight.

The pop star and host of UK's "I Kissed A Girl," who is sister to pop royalty Kylie Minogue, seemed to break headlines in queer circles after news began circulating that she had "come out as queer." However, it all seems to be a misunderstanding, per Minogue's Instagram post.

Apparently, when Minogue was asked about the contestants on "I Kissed A Girl," she responded that the girls were "hot."

"You know it. I love it. I'm here for it. Is that an answer?" she said.

But then some news outlets somehow picked Minogue's words as her "breaking down" in tears and "coming out." Nothing could be further from the truth, per the singer.

"I was not making an announcement that I'm a lesbian or queer: I'm straight and in a long-term hetero relationship," she said, adding that she doesn't want the mistaken headlines to distract from the good message behind the show, which airs every Sunday and Monday night at 9 p.m. on BBC Three.

Show follows the same formula as last year's "I Kissed a Boy," with the female version following 10 single women as they travel to an Italian Masseria with hopes to walk away with love.

"Here's to the first series of I Kissed A Girl and let's not let this distract from this incredibly important series for lesbian, bisexual and queer women's representation on TV," wrote Minogue in her social media post.

And even though there was no "coming out" after all. The girls can surely dream.

"You don't need to explain yourself to anyone Dannii - everyone that knows you is aware you've ALWAYS been a staunch ally since day one. You'd never say anything for clickbait," wrote one commentator.

Amen.
