Redken Partners with the It Gets Better Project, Launches Safe Space Virtual Course

Leading haircare brand Redken stands firm in their belief that everyone should feel safe as their authentic selves no matter where they are, and that includes the hairdresser's chair.
In order to put this into action–and just in time for Pride–Redken has partnered up with the It Gets Better Project (a global nonprofit dedicated to uplifting LGBTQ+ youth), Redken artists, and other experts in the field to create a free, virtual on-demand training to make the hairdresser's chair one where LGBTQ+ clients are sure to feel seen, heard, and respected.
According to a press release, the initiative aims to educate participants on how to create a more inclusive and welcoming salon space. Beyond just transforming hair, Redken believes that stylists should have the power to positively impact how people feel about themselves.
Made up of six, five-minute modules that include LGBTQ+ fundamentals such as gender, sexuality, vocabulary, sensitivity training, gender-free pricing, and client consultations to ensure they feel seen and heard. Upon completion of the courses, stylists will receive a certificate for their chair to highlight their dedication to creating safe environments for the LGBTQ+ community. But beyond the realm of hairdressing, Redken encourages all individuals to educate themselves for inclusivity be completing the program, which can be found here.
In order to draw even more awareness to this initiative, Redken is also launching a special edition version of its bestselling product, One United, which will feature unique artwork spotlighting the partnership with It Gets Better and will include a QR code that shares more information about the initiative and the mission to empower LGBTQ+ people worldwide through creating a safe space in hair salons.
